S. Lorenzo & surroundings - Plan de Corones
Plan de Corones is a mountain of 2,275 metres of height located in the Puster Valley at the edge of the Dolomites. It is the main mountain in Brunico and South Tyrol's biggest ski resort.
The name originates from the Fanes saga: Dolasilla, the wonderful princess of the Fanes Reign, is supposed to have been crowned at Plan de Corones.
In summer, when the snow is gone, the cattle are brought up to the pastures. The few unspoiled parts of the mountain are characterised by the typical forests of the Puster Valley.
